Dear JU-D Families,
Conferences are an important opportunity for us to make sure that our classroom program is supporting the developmental needs of your child academically, socially, and emotionally. We really appreciated getting the chance to talk with you and think about the particular successes your child is encountering, as well as thinking where we want to push harder and target our work together. Thank you for taking time to come in and talk with us.
It was a short week, and we decided not to send home Friday folders this week. We wanted, though, to fill you in on a few programmatic details so you and your child can plan for the coming weeks. There are twelve school days left before Thanksgiving. Here is an overview of how those will be spent:
- For the next two weeks, we will be visiting Awbury Arboretum on Monday and Thursday to complete our science units on scientific inquiry and invasive plants. On Mondays we’ll return to school around 12:30. On Thursdays, we’ll be in the field for our usual full day.
- On Monday, November 23rd, we’ll be baking brownies as we prepare the junior unit portion of the Thanksgiving Feast. This goes most smoothly if families lend us large mixing bowls and large spoons for mixing our ingredients. If you could send in one or both of these items, we will keep them safe and return them to you on Monday night.
- On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we will continue to work on the November hero paper, the reading skills, and the Greek gods. We will hopefully launch our Tribute to the Greek gods project.
Enjoy the weekend and reach out to us with any questions or concerns as they arise.
