Kindergarten Weekly Note

Dear Kindergarten Families,

It’s hard to believe that this is the last Friday note of 2016!  We are so delighted to work with your children and one another -- it is a gift!  We are also so moved by your generosity.  Thank you for the generous gift cards. Have a lovely and safe winter break.  We are looking forward to welcoming your children back on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 (2017?!?).

We spent this week reviewing many language arts and mathematics concepts and skills.  We wrote in our Writing Journals, adding “was” to the word wall.  We read to ourselves, focusing on finding the sounds “sh,” “th,” as well as our other sight words.  In mathematics we played games that reinforce the idea that “teens” are “ten and some more.” We also reorganized the mixed up number line to practice counting by one to twenty and to figure out if any numbers are missing.  We also practiced our number writing.

Many special winter events took place this week.  We had our Winterfest with our Book Buddies where we spent the time reading, playing, crafting, and drinking cider together.

We hope you and your families have lots of time to enjoy one another’s company these next few weeks.

Happy New Year,

The Kindergarten Team
