Good afternoon, Parents!
Welcome to the first full installment of the 2016-2017 Seventh Grade Weekly Note! It has been an exciting first few days in the Seventh Grade. The kids are loving the renovated space, and we teachers are loving that it’s finally full of students. The Weekly Note is one of the primary ways we will keep in touch with you throughout the year, and links to them will be sent via the school's weekly Progressive EDge email and are posted on the TPS Parent Portal (the portal password is tigers).
Next Tuesday will be our first trip to the Schuylkill Center, so we’d like to take the time to remind you about proper Schuylkill Center attire. Students should come equipped with long sleeves and pants (to keep out ticks), sturdy and comfortable walking shoes, a raincoat if the forecast calls, and full lunches and water bottles. This preparation will help ensure that they have a safe and comfortable day out in our Country Classroom.
Looking forward a bit farther, we have some reminders about important calendar dates and events. For those families who will be keeping their children home for Rosh Hashanah or Yom Kippur, please be sure to email your child’s advisor to let us know. For those who have already done so, thank you!
Back-to-School Night this year will be on Wednesday, September 28. This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s advisor and teachers, check out the new spaces, and get a feeling for what a day in the life of a TPS seventh grader feels like. We will also provide information about Fall Parent Conferences at that time. We hope to see you all there!
Athletics: A quick reminder that fall sports starts on Monday! Please go to the Middle School Interscholastic Sports page of the school website (remember, the password to the parent portal istigers) to register; online registration closes today. For students to be able to participate, they must turn in their sports physical and student athlete contract; the contract is the the last page of the Athletic Handbook (It can also be found with the online registration as a supplemental form that can be uploaded once signed.) If one of these forms is not yet submitted, the student is still expected to go to practice to be a part of the team building and learn through observation. Practice for all sports will run from 3:30-5pm. Any questions related to the sports physical should be directed to Sara Forgione, our school nurse. If you have questions about the Athletic Handbook, please email Akemi Moriuchi, our Athletic Director.
Finally, a note from the Eighth Grade team: You and your seventh grader(s) are cordially invited to join the eighth graders for TPS High School Night. On Monday, September 19 at 7:15 pm, we are expecting 20 independent and public schools to be present. This is an evening for both you and your child to learn more about the admission process in general and about these schools in particular.(This evening will be repeated next year.)
Thanks for your time. We hope you have a great weekend preparing for the first full week of school!
