It has been a busy week in the seventh grade as we gear up for some big events and projects right before the Thanksgiving holiday.
The biggest of them all is, of course, our 7th grade "Plant Bands," which will perform next Tuesday, November 22, in the Garage at 9:00 a.m. and again at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome and invited to attend the fruits of our rock 'n’ roll labors. Check out the school blog for some preview photos.
PLEASE NOTE: Students are decorating t-shirts for the rock band performance, but we used acrylic paint. The artists among us warn that they should not be machine washed with other clothes. If your child would like to keep and wear them after the band performance, you should hand wash them in warm water, apart from other clothes.
In classes, students continued work on their joint science/art project to design and create a biome-specific dream home. We also began outlining and planning for our final Lord of the Flies essay. Over the course of the week, students drafted thesis statements and topic sentences, as well as gathered specific quotes from the text to support their analyses. Be sure to ask your child how both of these projects are going!
Looking ahead to next week, we need supplies and some volunteers to help pull of our annual Thanksgiving Feast. The cooking supplies and utensils we need for lasagna-making on Monday include large pots, can openers, ladles, 1-cup measures, dishtowels, and aprons. If you can lend any of the above to us, please send it in with your child on Monday morning and make sure that it is clearly labeled with your last name so that we can return it to you.
We also need volunteers to bake lasagnas Monday night and return them to school for the Feast on Tuesday morning. If you are able to do that, please email Emily Marston at email@example.com to let her know and to coordinate the pick up and drop off. Thank you to all who volunteer their time and materials for this annual tradition!
Looking even further ahead, many students have Winter Concert performances coming up. If your child is one of them, please help remind him/her as their concert nears (Wednesday, December 14, for Middle School) that they should wear a solid red top and solid black bottom. Red dresses or TPS shirts are also okay, but Shannon requests no sweatshirts or graphic tees.
That’s all for this week! Enjoy the weekend, and we hope to see you next week!
