Dear Eighth Grade Parents,
Thank you for being such thoughtful correspondents this month in your child’s SSR journal! (The next exchange is due on Tuesday.) We hope that your modeling of the importance of reading in your busy lives will help students see that this is a life-long enterprise. Your child should have had a conversation with you about when in the week would be most convenient for you to write in this journal. Your child’s letter and your response are due at school each Monday (and if Monday is a holiday, then on Tuesday). You’ll be the recipients of SSR letters once again in February and can get caught up on the growth your child has seen as a reader.
We look forward to seeing you at conferences on November 3 and 4. If you have not done so yet, please sign up on the Doodle poll (links are available on the TPS website).
The public high school directory is now available on the School District website. Check it out to find details about the variety of choices available.
Today we enjoyed time in our family groups and circles at Shelly Ridge, our outdoor classroom for 22 years prior to the move to The Schuylkill Center. After snack and an all-school circle (a spirited rendition of "Father Abraham"), we rotated through three activities (music, games, and art) centered on our all-school theme of surviving and thriving in the city, country, and classroom. It was a beautiful day to be out and about in the woods and fields.
Some families have asked for a link to passport information for the trip to Cuba; it is recommended that students apply for their passports by October 15, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact Matt Eskin.
Have a wonderful weekend! See you on Tuesday.
Emily, Ethan, Ashley, and Wendy
