Preschool Weekly Note

Dear Parents,

We were delighted to see so many of you here at Back-to-School Night. We love having the opportunity to explain why we do what we do and give you a more complete picture of what happens at school each day.

A few parents came in this morning expressing surprise that their children were able to sit at the lunch table for an entire hour, and we realized we gave you a false impression. We ALLOW an hour for lunch so that even the children who like to “dine” can take their time and finish every morsel. However, MOST children finish eating in 15 or 20 minutes, and then they can clean up and play in the classroom while their friends finish.

Today (Thursday) the entire school (with the exception of preschool) went on a field trip to Shelly Ridge, a Girl Scout property that used to be the school's country campus. Preschoolers had the run of the whole school! We visited the Lombard Street building, and the children who regularly attend the ASEP program got to show us around and tell us about their afternoon schedule. We visited the BIG gym, where we had a few races, and then we had the opportunity to look at some beautiful children’s artwork.

Just a reminder that we would love you to send in a family picture to hang on our family tree. We also invite any interested family to come join us for a closing meeting and share a favorite family story.

Have a lovely long weekend, and we’ll see you on Tuesday.
