Well, the weather outside was frightful, but we hope your children had some fun playing in the snow. It’s been so warm these last few days that we’ve had a great time playing outside in the snow without FREEZING!!
Since we returned, we’ve continued our journey down the rabbit hole. You may have noticed that each of the rooms is being turned into some segment of Wonderland. If you check out the lofts in both rooms, you’ll see at the top there’s a lovely meadow where Alice and her sister can read but down below—it’s a whole new world. In the Trailblazer/Explorer room we created some doors and keys just like Alice encountered. We even made a “Pool of Tears” with salt grinders and water for Alice to try to walk through. Did you know that Alice drank from a bottle that said, “Drink Me” and then ate a cake that said, “Eat Me.” One of them made her grow and one made her shrink. This morning some of us made “Eat Me” cakes to try out. We also worked on paper fans that can make you shrink too! Please let us know if your child’s size changes at any point over the weekend.
Earlier this month, many of the Wonderers and Adventurers were eager to talk about their Christmas and Hanukkah celebrations. (And many are now looking forward to Valentine’s Day!) Yesterday afternoon, we had the opportunity to read about another holiday, the Muslim festival Eid-al-Fitr. Layla’s family shared the book ILYAS & DUCK and the Fantastic Festival of Eid-al-Fitr, as well as some photos of Layla celebrating with her family. The book was written by nationally recognized author Omar S. Khawaja and complemented the sharing of Layla's holiday traditions. We were delighted that her dad could join us, too!
Dates to put on your calendar:
Valentine Breakfast, Thursday, February 11, 8:30 -9:30 am. All family members are welcome to celebrate in the Garage with breakfast foods and Valentine’s Day activities. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the preschool vestibule.
Children are welcome to bring in Valentine cards to distribute later that morning. We ask that you SIGN the cards but DO NOT ADDRESS THEM. This will allow the children to share their cards without needing a teacher’s help to read who they’re for.
Preschool and Kindergarten Potluck (Please note the correct date is Wednesday, February 17. The event will be in the garage at 6:30. All are welcome. Check your email for details or ask your child’s teacher to put you in contact with the classroom parent representatives.
Have a great weekend.
