Primary A Weekly Note

Dear Families,

It was wonderful seeing you at the chorus concert and learning celebration. The children put on a heartwarming performance and then seamlessly stepped into the role of leader as they guided their guests through our classroom, sharing some of their proudest accomplishments. Bravo to the children for their composure and hard work! We hope the learning celebration gave you an increased understanding of what the children have been learning over the past few months and that you enjoyed the morning as much as we did.

It has been a busy, fun-filled fall, and we look forward to a new year of learning and playing with your children. We send along our warmest wishes for a very happy and restful break. Don’t forget to include lots of reading in your holiday plans. A reminder that your child has access to many short books on Raz-Kids (accessible from the 1st and 2nd grade web page)

After logging in, he/she can click “Reading Assignment,” which will go to books at her/his independent reading level.

This week, ask me… notice in books I read any words with the “glued” sounds made by “am” and “an.” (gr.1 Fundations)

...what the story, The Lost Colt is about. Also, ask me to sequence a story and what a multiple meaning word is. What did I learn about closed syllable exceptions to the rule (rule breakers)? What are some vowel teams? (gr. 2 Fundations)

...about the math I did with Beckett’s grandmother.

*From the Art Department: *We will be making clay "House Portraits" with your children when we get back from break. Please make a photo of your house or building and send it in (or email it) on the Monday we get back from break.

School resumes on Monday, January 4th. See you in 2016!

All the best,

Bernadette and Jane
