Dear Primary C Families,
This will be our last weekly note for this school year. We wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for being such great partners around your children’s growth and learning. We have truly enjoyed sharing in their development this year. As we prepare to close our time together as a classroom community, we have begun reflecting on our favorite memories from the year and looking forward to all the excitement that lies ahead. Over the weekend, we encourage you to take a little time to ask your child about his or her year (or years) in Primary C: How has s/he grown? What is s/he proudest about? What has been most challenging? What are his/her goals for next year?
Speaking of next year, students will participate in “Move-Up Day” next Monday. Current 2nd graders will visit a 3rd grade classroom to meet the teachers, learn a little more about life in 3rd grade, and have lunch in a new space. Our current 1st graders will act as hosts for visiting kindergartners, sharing all of their expertise about Primary Unit with some of their potential future classmates. We will all gather back together as our Primary C community for recess time.
Here are a few other housekeeping items about next week:
- Please have your child bring in a large paper grocery bag or reusable bag by next Tuesday. We will be sending lots of work from the year home next week, and we find that often there isn’t room for everything in children’s book bags.
- Information about summer work assignments will be posted online and shared with parents soon. As part of this work, we will be sending hard copy math assignment packets and summer reading recommendations tailored to each student’s academic needs. Please keep on the lookout for these packets in a manilla envelope later next week.
- Weather permitting, we will go to the Schuylkill Center on Wednesday as usual. Please make sure to send your child with a full water bottle.
- Remember that all students will be dismissed in the yard next Friday at 11:30, immediately after graduation. There is no ASEP or clubs. Buses will still be running.
Thanks again for a great year! Have a wonderful summer!
