Dear Primary C Families,
Paper! Glue! Paint! Clay! Shoeboxes and more! Primary C has been busy creating project work that extends their Air and Weather thinking. As we head into the last week of school for 2016, we continue to be amazed at the children’s energy, focus, and enthusiasm around learning. We can’t wait to share our projects with you next week at our Learning Celebration on Tuesday, December 13, following the Winter Concert (9:00-11:00 a.m.). Don’t forget to dress your child in concert attire: solid red on top and solid black on the bottom. Red dresses are great. TPS T-shirts are okay. No sweatshirts or graphics, please.
On Wednesday, we had our last visit to The Schuylkill Center, where children played, ate lunch, and roasted marshmallows over a toasty fire. We were also lucky enough to watch Schuylkill Center educator Damien launch a model rocket. It soared over 200 feet into the sky and dropped a parachute above the trees. It truly was a magical day.
During read aloud, we continued reading The Borrowers by Mary Norton. Modeling reading strategies such as checking for understanding, back-up and reread, and flip the sound gives students access to this somewhat sophisticated novel. They are on the edge of their seats and enjoy each day’s cliffhangers.
Next week is a busy week in the Primary Unit; please be sure to check the calendar at the top of this page to see what is on the horizon.
Notice About Toys and Trading Cards: There have been some hurt feelings around trading cards and other personal items. The Primary Unit team agrees that the best way to avoid any confusion or conflicts related to these items is to keep them at home. We appreciate your help with this.
Have a warm and relaxing weekend,
Jane and Jennifer
