Dear Primary C Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at Back-to-School Night on Wednesday evening. We enjoyed sharing how we approach teaching and learning in our classroom, and hope you got a clearer picture of how your children spend their days in Primary C, as well as how much social and academic growth your child will make in these two years in the Primary Unit.
Even though it was a short week, Primary C students were busy. During our weekly visit to The Schuylkill Center, we met with an educator who helped us explore air, temperature, and clouds. Students used gridded mirrors to observe cloud coverage. We also went on a k-8th grade trip to Shelly Ridge, our school's former country classroom, with our family circles. We participated in rotations of activities, which included making toad houses out of things found in nature, singing songs together, and playing field games. Two whole days spent outside – how fortunate are we?
This week, ask me…
- how Reading-to-Someone will help me become a better reader.
- what portion of the sky is covered with clouds today. Less than half? More than half? How does cloud cover keep the Earth warm?
- what my favorite rotation was on Shelly Ridge Day?
Enjoy the longer weekend! (There is no school on Friday, October 7, or Monday, October 10.)
All the best,
Jennifer and Jane
