We embraced the rainy weather to trek to The Schuylkill Center this week. With Center educator Damien, we discussed changes in seasons and the typical weather pattern each season has that can be observed, compared, and predicted.
"Writers read their writing like readers." That focusing statement helped us this week prepare for a mini writing celebration of our accomplishments so far in personal narrative writing. After revising and editing one piece of writing, we read our work to one another and gave and received feedback. Ask your child what peers said to compliment her/his writing.
We look forward to sharing our learning from our air and weather study, our writing workshop, and more at our Learning Celebration on Tuesday, December 13, immediately following our Winter Concert. Hope you can come.
This week, ask me...
...what strategies I can use to tell the total number of dots on a domino. (1st gr).
…what strategy I can use to solve an equation such as 6+7. (2nd gr)
...what scales we use in our family. (At school, we have discussed a wind scale, a thermometer, and a rain gauge.)
Save the date: TPS Winter Concert, Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Primary Unit Chorus will be singing these three songs for their Winter Concert. Please feel free to ask them about the songs, and maybe they’ll give you a preview! The concert dress will be black on the bottom, red on the top. TPS t-shirts are perfect. Otherwise, please don't wear anything with graphics on it if at all possible. A red dress is also fine if students want to dress up. Here is the link to the songs the Primary Unit will be singing: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zPVawm4-Nx_bVQJw7ZJXseq4zI92CPRtujOOoaejhCc/edit?usp=sharing
Have a good weekend after this intense election week .
