We have had a busy, albeit short, week!
On Tuesday the Primary Unit went to the Kimmel Center to hear the Philadelphia Orchestra. We loved the program. A few highlights include the following: We heard parts of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, and learned about a musical motif. We listened to Grieg’s "The Hall of the Mountain King" and got to move our bodies in time to the escalating tempo. We sang "Toreador" along with an opera singer and capped it all off by dancing the can-can.
In science we had a great time trying out the effect of wind on an anemometer constructed of paper cups and straws. We then constructed our own pinwheels and used them to learn the ways we can see wind in action. Our investigation continued at The Schuylkill Center, where we made and flew kites.
We look forward to seeing you at parent/teacher conferences!
