Primary C Weekly Note

Dear Primary C Families,

We enjoyed seeing many of you at Back-to-School Night on Wednesday! If you were unable to attend, please check your child’s backpack for paper copies of the handouts we shared. Here is a copy of the presentation we showed.

Please make sure to complete and return the permission slip for our October 21 field trip to Crystal Cave by next Friday. Here is a PDF of the form. We love to have parents join us on field trips whenever we can! Please email us if you would like to help chaperone this trip, and we’ll get back to you soon.

We were so excited to talk about everyday life in Primary C that we forgot to discuss some very important special events in our classroom: Birthdays!!! We have many birthday traditions in Primary C, including crowns, posters signed by all of the students in the class, and a special song with lyrics adapted for each birthday child. Families are invited to come celebrate with us by reading a favorite picture book aloud to the class. If your child’s birthday occurs during school breaks, we would love to celebrate with you on his or her half birthday or “almost birthday.”  Please reach out to us by email to schedule a time for your family to come visit our classroom.

Here are some questions to ask your child about our week:

  • What did you write about during Writing Workshop? Do you have any ideas for your next “small moment” story?
  • How would you describe one of the rocks you observed on Wednesday? What did you notice about all of the rocks?
  • What books did you pick when book shopping during Read to Self today?
  • Who is your Family Group leader? What activities did you do with your Family Circle this morning?

Finally, many of you had the chance to meet Meri Greenbaum, Max’s mother, at Back-to-School Night. Thank you, Meri, for volunteering to be Primary C’s TPSA representative this year! We look forward to collaborating with you throughout the school year.

See you Monday!

Kaitlin and Jennifer
