Dear 3A Parents,
Many thanks to those of you who were able to visit our Lenape Museum! We are proud of all your children’s efforts, and they were super excited to present their work. We appreciate your taking the time out of your busy schedules.
The third grade team chose not to show the film Screenagers to our students. We previewed the film yesterday, and while it is an interesting and useful film for adults and older children, we do not feel it is in any way appropriate for third graders. Our decision is based on both the content of the film and the way that content is delivered. At school we talk to students of all ages about what it means to be a good digital citizen in ways that meet the students where they are. We understand that parents of younger children have concerns about issues like screen time and technology use at home. Unfortunately, this film is not the vehicle to use to discuss these things with eight and nine year olds. Here are some articles on parenting and technology you may find helpful:
Next Tuesday, December 13, 9:00-10:00 a.m., is the Primary Unit and Third Grade Winter Concert. If you can make the time, please come hear the culmination of the third grade chorus’ hard work this fall. Concert dress is black pants or skirts and red tops (or dresses).
Next Friday, December 16, we will be having our annual Book Buddy Winterfest. We will read winter books while enjoying some cider, doing a winter craft, and playing with our book buddies.
Before leaving for winter break, we hope to clean out cubbies and book bins and send projects home. Please send in a bag in case your child’s backpack doesn’t have extra room. Thanks!
Miriam and Josh
