3A Weekly Note

Dear 3A Parents,

It’s the end of a short but fantastic first week! Today we had a great first visit to the Schuylkill Center. We played a few large group games with 3B and then hiked to the Pine Plantation. It was shady and breezy. Forts were built and much fun was had by all!

If your child has not already brought in his or her summer book project, reading list, math packet, and family photo, please make sure to send them to school on Monday. Also due on Monday is the homework we sent home yesterday about hopes and goals.

3A has Art and PE on Mondays and Wednesdays (sneakers required for PE) and Music and Spanish on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Third grade chorus meets on Tuesdays.

Thanks to those of you who sent in a questionnaire https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GdvFDRcGHybWSWjYRfXr1aw173Fmfg40rz94R44wpaw/edit?usp=sharing and/or signed up for a short meeting on the doodle http://doodle.com/poll/itsidd4f7tuukf69 . For those who haven’t, it’s not too late!

The main purpose of the weekly note is to give you some topics to help start discussions with your child about his or her school experiences. The calendar above the note focuses on 3rd grade classroom events and activities.

This weekend, you can ask your child about

  • Mistakes and why it’s good to make them
  • The World According to Humphrey, our read-aloud book
  • The squares in rectangles math activity
  • The all school theme, which was revealed today at Encuentro
  • Specials classes this week
  • The classroom library scavenger hunt
  • What s/he did during recess in the yard or the park
  • Try-A-Tile math puzzles

Stay cool and enjoy the weekend!

Miriam and Josh
