Welcome all risk-takers and play-makers.

Athletics play an important part in the education of students at The Philadelphia School. Lessons of commitment, sportsmanship, teamwork, competition, strong work ethic, perseverance, and sportsmanship are integral to our program.

The Athletics program strives to provide experiences that will help to develop students physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
At TPS, we encourage excellence in each sport, and strive to field Middle School teams that are successful and competitive in a safe and fun environment. We do not cut students on any of our teams, and offer opportunities for success for both experienced and beginning players. Our Athletics program prepares student athletes for the next level by teaching foundational sport skills, tactics, and strategies, while fostering the development of commitment, responsibility, leadership and goal setting.

Our athletics program acts as a seamless continuation of the values we cultivate here at TPS. Here, every student is able to participate and our coaching staff is ready to meet every individual where they are, no matter their ability or background. We encourage children to explore and push the boundaries of possibility to fulfill their athletic potential, whether that’s trying a new sport for the first time, increasing their confidence and competitiveness in a sport they already know, or pushing themselves outside their comfort zone to work hard as a collective team.

Our teams are real communities, where each athlete must learn to trust and depend on one another, and rally for each other’s success, both on and off the field. We inspire a sense of personal integrity with our teams, teaching athletes how to win and lose gracefully, how to manage feelings of frustration and excitement, and to demonstrate good sportsmanship. At TPS, every athlete's voice is prioritized. We work to foster an environment where athletes have a role in the decisions that are made on the field, court, or track, encouraging the cultivation of accountability, sportsmanship, communication, and collaboration.
